Free-to-See Movie Costume Exhibit Opens

If clothes maketh the person, then a well-designed, creatively fashioned outfit can truly maketh a movie, or at least very much enhance the story, the characters, and the general world-building in an essential and exciting way. To celebrate this important cornerstone of movie-makery, the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising takes time out, each year, to pay tribute to several major films of the year that just ended. The result? A stunning line-up of costumes that are all completely free to admire from just steps away.

The 27th Annual “Art of Motion Picture Costume Design” exhibition is now on view, as of Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the FIDM Museum in Downtown Los Angeles. It will run through to Friday, April 12, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., but keep in mind that the gallery remains closed on Sundays and Mondays (and there’s a closed Friday, too, on the schedule: Feb. 15). Eager to see if your favorite, or perhaps Favourite, from 2018, is on view? Check out beautiful wearables from “Black Panther,” “A Star Is Born,” “Mary Poppins Returns,” and, yes, “The Favourite,” now…
